And by this I dont necesary mean cameos like the poster in superstarsaga but rather references and similarities that have made you think of stafy
For instance when I played Code Name S.T.E.A.M. for the first time the ending (basically you beat the final boss but it doesnt go down tries to destroy the world so a major character sacrifices themselves) reminded me of the ending in Stafy 3. It doesnt help that CNS was produced by Hitoshi Yamagami, the man behind the starfy games
Another similarity I found was in another of Yamagamis games, the first fossil fighters. In it the bandit trio (i think thats what they were called) kinda reminded me of the terrible trio in TLS as both groups are bossess that try to stop you and serve a major antagonist, but do a heel face turn after they realize their boss plan was much more malicious than they thought
Soo what kind of similarities have you guys noticed

I'd imagine Count Bleck would fall into a similar group to Ogura, right? He started out as a villain, but later redeemed himself for the greater good.
Plus, they happen to be our favorites so there is always that aspect! ^_^

I often compare Ogura with Antasma but the bleck comparasion isnt that bad either

Antasma had a much worse ending, though. Not fitting for his character.

The boss intros with them talking to you before you fight them reminds me of the Megaman Zero/ZX series, as well as their dialogue making fun of you when you lose to them like Megaman Zero 3 & 4 and the ZX series (Though in Megaman Zero 3 & 4/ZX's case, they make fun of you after you die during the battle but before you respawn to reenter the fight, while in the Starfy series they make fun of you in their intro dialogue when you restart the fight).

I love the Megaman games so these similarities are very interesting to me. I never knew before you brought them up. Does the Starfy dialogue poke fun at itself too like the Mario RPGs do?

I remember you talking about those. I'm curious if you have been able to find the time to play Fossil Fighters yet as you said you were thinking about getting it? I understand it can be difficult with school work. I remember you talking about how people tend to be narrow-minded when it comes to monster-battling games, viewing other games in the genre as knock-offs of Pokémon and not willing to try out new things and how though Pokémon is a popular franchise it doesn't mean all the other monster-battling games are bad. That's a cool similarity. Does the Starfy dialogue poke fun at itself too like the Mario RPGs do? In what way do you mean exactly? Sorry. A small similarity that I like is The Legendary Starfy series and Mendel Palace both sharing a floating castle in the sky resting above the clouds (the castle being Pufftop Palace in the Starfy series). (This Mendel Palace artwork is from the Famicom Hisshoubon Mendel Palace manga. It was re-published in Ken Sugimori's artbook Ken Sugimori Works) The sound effect for digging up a fossil in Fossil Fighters for some reason reminds me of the jingle for when you confront a boss in the first four Starfy games (and when Starfy appears as an Assist Trophy in the Super Smash Bros. series). If I see a living star character in a video game the same colour as Starfy it will make me think of him. Maybe one of the most well known examples are the Star Spirits from Paper Mario. Clever and Miss Star look rather like Starfy and Starly respectively. There was a highly obscure Nintendo game called Fufu Kirarin that was one of the games which students made in Nintendo's 2008 Nintendo Game Seminar. It is a shoot-em-up, where you throw little star characters at enemies by blowing into the microphone. I liken it to one of the closest things to a Starfy spin-off, and the way that you throw the stars is like Kirby: Mass Attack as well. I think it looks very fun. And at my oldest brother's house there is this character on a toy who looks remarkably like Starfy. I shared this with Yami/Hoopa too.

I'm also known as Henchman1028 on the Rayman forums (http://raymanpc.com/forum/index.php?sid=6d63676f85c9aa34462bd9ea124e0621).

I've always loved Rayman 2: The Great Escape. I've also completed Rayman 3 before but I don't consider it as good as Rayman 2. I feel Rayman 2 is a great 3D platformer with a cool map interface, and I liked many of the story elements and characters like Globox, Ly the fairy, Clark. Clark was great. I played Rayman Legends and I thought it was excellent.

Yeah. Rayman 3 is actually my favourite in the series, though. Anyways, back on topic, what I think Rain means by the dialogue poking fun at itself is does the dialogue break the fourth wall and make fun of itself a lot?

Yeah. Rayman 3 is actually my favourite in the series, though. Anyways, back on topic, what I think Rain means by the dialogue poking fun at itself is does the dialogue break the fourth wall and make fun of itself a lot? Hmm. The closest used thing I can think of isn't dialogue, but there's the fact that the Starfy series make self-references with the cameos (comparable to the movie posters in the Yoshi Theater in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga), like how Starfy is playing on his Nintendo DS during the introduction of Starfy 4. A Sand Snark is also playing on his Game Boy Advance in Jojiro's Shop in Starfy 3, and the minigames room in Starfy 3 also features a Nintendo GameCube, and there is how the Nintendo Headquarters Special costume in Densetsu no Starfy 4 references many consoles like the Game Boy Micro, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo DS and Famicom Dialogue wise, there is some unused (in the final game) Japanese only text which can be found in The Legendary Starfy that does indeed break the fourth wall and make fun of itself. If the Japanese games got translated, maybe there might be text like that we don't know about. I got a person experienced in Japanese named Joe from Jul (forums associated with The Cutting Room Floor that have a board for translating unused text) to translate it. I think it's possible that this text originated from a Japanese trial demo. The nearly 400,000 copies thing is interesting, because the Japanese website GEIMIN.NET (the source for the Wikipedia articles regarding the sales) suggests that they collectively sold more copies than that. The American The Legendary Starfy: Trial Version (these were displayed in kiosks) has some self-referencing dialogue, but since it's the sort of thing that you may expect in a trial demo, it's not anything out of the ordinary and the self-references are just like "I hope you enjoy this trial demo" (from the Mermaid Gossip) and "Are you having fun with this trial demo" (from Moe).

I see. Nice to see more translations. Anyways, the way the cutscenes are implemented with the 2D Platformer gameplay reminds me a lot of Ducktales Remastered (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcQJJEoc23A).
