This thread is for awesome cartoons, and the thread itself it also awesome!
This thread can contain any cartoons that you find interesting, funny, dark and deep, or maybe a childhood favorite.
I'll get us started with a favorite from my childhood that I am currently revisiting: Aaahh!!! Real Monsters
This series is actually from the creators of Rugrats and premiered on Halloween! This series is about monsters who live in a dump (literally!) and attend an academy in order to learn how to harness their true potential as monsters. The school teaches them how to scare humans, basically! The series is full of episodes that involve all types of scenarios and ran for 4 seasons.
The series revolved around 3 main characters:
Ickis: This little guy is the one that looks like a rabbit. As you can imagine this appearance make it very hard to scare humans, but he actually comes from a long line of great monsters. His dad is the greatest student to ever graduate from the academy and Ickis struggles to live up to that greatness. On his own, he shifts from very confident to doubting himself. He can become arrogant and full of himself when he does pull off a successful scare. He scares humans by growing to a huge size and looming over humans.
Oblina: She is the candy cane looking one with the big lips. She is a perfectionist and is the current top student in the class. She came from a rich family, but her mother is not accepting of her learning to scare because she thinks it is below Oblina. Despite this, Oblina attends class and is usually the most level-headed member of the group. She scares people by pulling her guts out of her mouth. Yeah.
Krumm: Perhaps the most unique monster, this guy is the hairy one who holds his eyes in his hands! His dad was the worst student every at the academy and became a mold farmer. Krumm is a lazy student, but is actually quite talented and calm in situation where most lose their cool. He scares humans by using his stench!
As you can see, these backstories are actually pretty deep. The series is funny, but also deals with issues like self doubt, failure, friendship, and death. The series is dark, satirical at times, and is drawn in a very crude early 90's style.
What about you guys? Any cartoons you wan to share?
