This topic will be extremely hard to narrow down, but I thought it would be fun to share our favorite GameCube games since the system had a great library of games. The games do not have to be in any order, just name 5 games that really left an impression on you.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - This game represents everything I ever wanted in a game. The colorful art, the music that fits the mood, the atmosphere when sailing the enormous ocean, and the classic Zelda charm that goes with exploring a world for the first time. I loved sailing, even if many dislike this aspect, and I have always wanted a game where I could sail at my own pace and explore islands. This game finally game me that! Wind Waker may not have as many dungeons as the other Zelda games, but it makes up for it with the best overworld in the series.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - I often felt that this game was built specifically for me. It had everything I loved in terms of locations. It had a castle, a spooky town with a dark forest, a pirate's grotto, a stadium filled with fighters, and a train filled with mysteries! The side character really brought this game to life by giving us classic like Pennington and Flavio. I actually thought that the side cast often shined more than the main cast.
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes - The pinnacle of the Prime series for me. This game was the game that truly brought some horror elements to the series while retaining the exploration and puzzles of the series. Echoes has the best bosses in the series, with Quadraxis shining as one of the best examples of complicated and multi-layered boss battles. This game is also know for its difficulty since ammo can run out and bosses can be tricky. Boost Ball Guardian walled so many players! The location where top notch with Torvus Bog combining everything I love about the series from the music, to the enemies.
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!! - This was the game I played the most with my friends. To me, this was the peak of the Mario Kart series. Being able to combine two characters along with various karts made for a deep experience. I loved trying out new teams and using various karts. I like to use Diddy Kong and Bowser Jr. on the Barrel Train now. This game also features some of my all time favorite courses like Dino Dino Jungle, Baby Park, and Daisy' Cruiser.
Mario Superstar Baseball - This is the most addicting Mario game for me. I am playing this now! I play exhibition games almost weekly. The games never get boring to me. The lack of stadiums was a little sad, but each one shines with its own unique style. I love mixing up teams and finding which teams have a certain synergy to compete.
