Last year Karm Kaiser VGMC published a compilation video of Densetsu no Stafy 4 music.
What is unusual is the order of the songs:
1) Opening Demo
2) Mattel's Theme
3) Flourishing Desert
4) Flourishing Desert City
5) Thousand Year Hill
6) Unused 1
7) Old Tower
8) Lobber's Villa
9) Angler's Theme
10) Kigurumi's Theme
11) A Boss Is Nearby!
12) Confrontation with the Boss
13) Boss Battle
14) Degil's Theme 1
15) Lobber's Villa City
16) Staff Roll 1
17) Staff Roll 2
18) Ending 1
19) Ending 2
20) Ending 3
21) Tree of Beginning
22) Answers Card
23) Stage Select
24) Goods Screen
25) Tone of Ocean Shamisen
26) Hidden Village of Koimaro
27) Tree of Beginning City
28) Cupid Village
29) Cupid Village City
30) Tear Lake
31) Tear Lake City
32) Unused 2
33) Old Tower City
34) Degil's Castle
35) Degil's Castle City
36) Spring of Love
37) Conversation 1
38) Conversation 2
39) Conversation 3
40) Kelkie's Theme
41) Propeller Bit's Theme
42) Degil's Theme 2
43) Battle Degil
44) Defeat Degil!
45) Tone of Ocean
46) Pause Menu
47) Get Screen
48) File Selection
49) Picture Book
50) Moe's House
51) Shop
52) 3-Minute Dish Theme (the octopus Kigurumi theme for those who don't know)
53) Tone of Ocean Funky
54) The Starfy Dance
55) Game Over
56) Hidden Village of Koimaro City
57) Unused 3
58) Thousand Year Hill City
Perhaps this order indicates the actual order Tose programmed the songs into the game but I haven't looked into the game's code to confirm this yet. I get the impression perhaps Tose had ideas for events in the game and made the music before finalizing them.
A few theories:
For whatever reason the music for Flourishing Desert, Thousand Year Hill and Old Tower was created before the Lobber's Villa Stage music?
Tone of Ocean Shamisen being grouped with menus may suggest it might be the original background music for the Legendary Concert screen/sound test.
The unused song 2 was the original Old Tower stage music?
I'd love to hear if anybody else has any other interesting theories?
