A simple question. Since we havent gotten any Starfy game in 7-8 years I started to wonder, will we ever see Starfy again. Personally I hope so. Starfy is a wonderful series which I think gets overshadowed by bigger Nintendo titles like the big three and Kirby or fanfavorites like Star Fox and MOTHER and its a shame really
Realistically though, I am not so sure. The series first international release game (the legendary starfy) kinda flopped in the USA which makes me to doubt. Also while the series was rather popular in Japan, its popularity has decreased over the time
So what do you think? Do you think the series has a future. Personally I hope so, but since its a C tier franchise, it may take a while before we see our favorite dizzy star prince again

Starfy is a wonderful series and I love playing as the cute star/starfish like creature. Clearing through the areas (levels) are fun. Even though The Legendary Starfy might not have sold that well, I feel that TOSE/Nintendo could give it another chance. It's interesting (as I think you know) that in an interview in 2009, Nintendo Life asked Hitoshi Yamagami if there are plans for a sixth Starfy game in the works, and he replied "yes!" with a long pause and laugh. Perhaps TOSE have started work on that game and are/were doing things with it. But it's odd that it has been 7 years since the release of The Legendary Starfy: Taiketsu! Daīru Kaizokudan in Japan, with the time gaps between new games normally only being 1 to (almost) 2 years. Personally I hope so, but since its a C tier franchise, it may take a while before we see our favorite dizzy star prince again Yeah. I think I get what you mean. It's not one of Nintendo's top priorities. Though we never know what the future holds. Leon from the NinDB forums speculated: We have Densetsu no Starfy on Japan Virtual Console, so that it is a good sign; that TOSE are still working with Nintendo regarding their IP. It may not imply a new Starfy game will be coming soon, but promotes interest. |

Yeah. A thing I like about Nintendo is that we never know what will happen. They do use lesser known IPs from time to time so who knows
Like Leon I think a reason we havent gotten a new stafy game is because of Yamagami being busy lately. I mean by the past couple years he has wprked on not only those franchises (fire emblem and xenoblade) but also other games such as the first two fossil fighters (not sure about frontier), some pokemon games and code name s.t.e.a.m. So yeah we can assume that Yamagami has worked on a lot of things and that he may not have had time on working any starfy games,even if he wanted to
Yeah,thats a good point. I think we have to wait and see

They just released the first Starfy game on the Japanese Wii U Virtual Console last month, so Nintendo knows it and TOSE still exist at least, and it gives me some hope of seeing another Starfy game.

I have always believed that we will see another Starfy game.
Think of all the franchises that have been revived, or games that have made a comeback. There was a time when I thought DKC was dead, and then Returns came along. Same with Killer Instinct, which was recently revived after not having a game since the N64 era.

I really believe Starfy will have a revival some day. I'm hoping its in the form of a translated older Starfy game for the virtual console or a completely new Starfy game transitioned into 3D in some way.

Another odd thing is that TOSE hasnt worked on any game (what we know of) lately other than that resident evil game back in 2011 TOSE did make a licensed Disney Planes games in 2013, but that's the only thing they made that year and they didn't make anything in 2014. I think rising development costs have been a problem for them. |

Fire Emblem was giving that last chance with Awakening and sold so well that we know have Fates coming in 2016. So sales really do have an impact. I just hope we get something. Bravely Default sold a million copies roughly here, so that seems to be the benchmark.

Actually, TOSE are making the remakes of Star Ocean: Second Evolution for the PS4 and Vita this month. Interestingly, the original PSP version of Star Ocean: Second Evolution (Also made by TOSE) came out on the same year as The Legendary Starfy in Japan.

Just bought three physical copies of Starfy 1-3 so I could finally own them legally. Hopefully if Starfy 6 becomes a thing, it'll revive the forum 
(End of sad rant… I think. 10 shoutbox messages, wow!)
