Which Starfy game should I start out with?

Hi. I've been meaning to play the first few Starfy games ever since Starfy 5 came out in the US. Fell in love with the character designs, dialogue, and the presentation of the game(s) and then soon found out that the other games were Japan only. Didn't know about emulation then either, so that was a bit of a bummer for me.

So, it's been a few years, and here I am. I never actually beat the 5th Starfy game, and after some digging in this forum for a few minutes I'm guessing the 5th game isn't the best out of them all. Sorry for telling my life's story! I'm wondering what you people think would be a good starter for the Starfy series. Maybe in what order to play them in, too. What to expect, what not to expect, and just some opinions. My apologies if there is an already similar thread to this one.

I'm assuming that there isn't an English patch out yet for any of the games, but I also heard that there is one in the works...? If there's somewhere I could follow up on that, maybe an update blog of some sorts, I'd love to follow it.

I'm not sure if you'll see this, but I can try to help, even though this forum is dead.

The Game Boy Advance games have a connected plot and storyline, so it's best not to start with 2 or 3. I suggest you start with the first game. It's rather lacking compared to the sequels, but it's a good start if you want to learn the basics.

The fourth game, which is on the DS like Starfy 5, is very different from the rest of the games, and is not seen as good as the GBA games, but is still generally considered better than the other DS game, so if you want to start with that instead, go for it.

Starfy 2 and 4 are my favourites. I suggest the Game Boy Advance games in general (though Densetsu no Stafy is a lot shorter) as they have a lot of action and are fun to pick up and play.

I started with the fifth game in the series (The Legendary Starfy) as it was the latest and the only one to be officially translated into English. Starfy 4 plays quite differently from the other five games with its own explorable menu map system.

Is the fifth considered the worst? Cause I found the fifth enjoyable like I did with the other four. I would say terrible trio are better than a good sum of the characters in the franchise, but then again that’s just me. My personal favorite is 3.
